Francisco Vergara-Silva is a full time and permanent Researcher at the Institute of Biology, UNAM. He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), Level II. He is a specialist in research on evolutionary theory and in historical, philosophical and sociological studies of biology, particularly in its disciplinary interactions with anthropology. Responsible or collaborator in several taxonomic-systematic and evolutionary studies on selected genera of the flora of Mexico. Master's and PhD tutor in the postgraduate programs in Biological Sciences, Sustainability Sciences, and Philosophy of Science, UNAM. Full professor of the course Evolution of Development (since 2012) and other graduate courses. Regular member of the International Society for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB) since 1999 and of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) since 2019. Member of the Seminar of History, Philosophy and Sociology of Mexican Anthropology (Direction of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the National Institute of Anthropology and History) since 2009. He collaborates with several international research groups in topics of his specialty.
